Advancements in pipe repair and replacement technology have led to the development of ‘Pipe Relining’. This process has been in use now for over 25 years.
Pipe Relining is the process of installing a one-piece liner within the existing pipe. This liner is made up of a woven sock impregnated with a 2 part resin.
This is then cured inside the old pipe forming a new pipe within the old. This new pipe alone structurally stronger than PVC pipe and bonds to the original pipework by extruding resin into all the pipe joints, cracks or breaks. This process works very well for sewer relining.

Pipe relining FAQs
What kind of damaged pipes can relining fix?
Pipe relining can repair broken, cracked or root-infested pipes, pipes with sections missing and pipes that continually block – all without unnecessary digging.
No matter if the pipes are vertical, horizontal or concealed, they can all be repaired. Sections of broken pipework can be relined, without having to replace the entire pipeline.
We work on any kind of underground pipes that are damaged or defective including … Earthenware, stormwater pipes, brass pipes, HDPE, PVC, cement, cast iron, ductile iron, asbestos downpipes, pressure pipes, and sewer pipes.
How long does pipe relining last?
Pipe relining is a long-term solution due to the product having a 50-year life expectancy. We guarantee a 25-year warranty which comes with every relining job, no matter how small or large.
How does pipe relining work?
Our process begins with a customer consultation and CCTV inspection of the drainage system to determine and locate any problems within the drains.
We then hydro jet the drain using a high-pressure water jet and cleaning tools to clean and prepare the pipe. A custom made liner and bladder are manufactured and inserted into the drain and carefully pulled/pushed into position, spanning over the damaged area.
The bladder is then inflated using compressed air which expands and forces the epoxy filled liner to conform and bond to the internal bore of the existing drain.
The liner is left to cure, creating a pipe within a pipe.
Once cured, the bladder is deflated and removed, leaving the newly created structural liner set in place. A final CCTV inspection is conducted and the pipe is ready for full use.
How much does pipe relining cost?
Every job is different, depending on factors such as accessibility, risk, pipe size, length and the number of junctions. This is why our process begins with a customer consultation and CCTV inspection of the drainage system to determine and locate the specific problem with the drains. This allows us to provide a free, no-obligation quote with the most accurate pricing.
Be aware of companies willing to quote on pipe relining without visiting the site and inspecting the pipe thoroughly. You could be in for a nasty surprise after you have already committed your hard-earned money.
Why do most plumbers not recommend pipe relining?
Most plumbers lack the equipment, training, and certification needed to carry out pipe relining.
However, there are some cases when pipe relining is not an option and an excavation is necessary, such as when a pipe has collapsed.
How can I tell if pipe relining will fix my problem?
In our ten years of experience, we have come across and repaired the majority of pipe configurations possible. Our R&D department has adapted our systems and methodologies to cope with each scenario, so you can be confident that we can develop a way to fix your problem.
What are the symptoms of blocked drains?
Slow Draining – One of the most apparent signs of a blocked drain is slow emptying of the sink or tub. The problem typically becomes worse over time. Slow drainage can also occur in the shower and cause water to accumulate on the floor.
Foul Odours – When a blockage is present in your plumbing, water, hair and debris continuously accumulate. Stagnant water and decomposing solids have a pungent odour that can spread through the air and be detected in the area around your sinks, showers, tubs and toilets.
Gurgling Sounds – A drain that is blocked locally will often cause the effected fixture to gurgle as the water drains. If you have a main sewer drain blockage, you may hear gurgling in your tub or shower when you drain your sink as well.
Changes In Flush – A blocked drain can make the water levels in your toilet rise higher when you flush, or it could affect filling and lead to lower water levels in the bowl. A main sewer drain blockage can also cause water to flow into the tub or shower when you flush the toilet.

What diameters and pipe length can be relined?
Pipe diameters that range from 40mm – 225mm can be repaired. Sections of pipe as short as 30cm can be relined.
How long does pipe relining take?
Most jobs can be carried out within a day or two, depending on the length and complexity of the reline.
What type of material do we use for pipe relining?
Developed in Germany, BRAWOLINER is the leader in pipe relining technology. Their patented liner is the most flexible and dependable in the world. The lines meet AS3500 Standards Australia (section 3.1), so you know you are getting a quality approved product. The BRAWO resins are special epoxy resins that have been optimized for use with BRAWOLINER.
Can tree roots re-enter a relined pipe?
No, a relined pipe is impervious to future tree root re-growth.
What are the advantages of pipe relining compared to traditional methods?
Relining eliminates structural disturbances. It provides increased flow characteristics. It restores integrity to damaged or cracked pipes, stopping leaks.
It has the ability to reline junctions and Tee’s in one action, creating a sealed joint. It gives minimal disturbances to finished surfaces, surroundings and to your garden.
It has significant cost savings over traditional pipework replacement methods. It improves water quality by eliminating contamination from lead and other metal pipes. And not to mention, it’s environmentally friendly!
What are the disadvantages of pipe relining?
There is only one downside to pipe relining – it isn’t always possible to perform. When a pipe is badly damaged or collapsed, excavation may be necessary.

Quality, long-lasting pipe lining
Thinking about digging up and replacing your pipes because your pipes are broken, have been invaded by tree roots or your sewer pipes are backing up? Think again – you can reline your pipes and avoid the hassle of having to landscape, repave or retile! If it couldn’t get any better, the newly relined pipes are actually stronger and more durable than what they would be if you simply had them replaced with brand-new pipes.
There are a number of pipe relining brands that are available in Australia and after extensive market research, we at Network Plumbing have chosen then Brawoliner pipe relining system that was developed in Germany. Brawoliner uses state-of-the-art technology that is Australian Watermarked and follows strict quality assurance standards, providing the best possible pipe lining in the business. Brawoliner has designed their liner so it is extremely flexible, which means it is perfect for damaged pipes that have multiple bends up to 90 degrees and multiple changes in diameter. The material used is environmentally friendly and is a permanent fix for broken pipes.
The process for pipe relining begins first with the plumber completing a consultation with the client and an inspection with a CCTV drain camera to determine what condition the pipes are in and if there are any blockages that need to be cleared such as tree roots and sediment build-up. A high-pressure water jetter is used to clean the pipe and remove any obstructions, after this another inspection with the CCTV drain camera is conducted to confirm that all obstructions are cleared. Following this, a custom-made liner and bladder are inserted into the pipe and carefully manoeuvred into position. The bladder is inflated with compressed air which forces the epoxy filed liner to expand to the interior lining of the pipe and mould to it. The liner is left to cure and after it is set, the bladder is deflated and removed, leaving a newly formed pipe within a pipe. Another inspection is undertaken to confirm that the pipe is ready for use. Your pipe is now stronger than it ever was!

No one wants to go through the process of having their garden ripped to pieces so broken pipes can be replaced – but there is no longer a need to go down this traditional path!
Pipe relining is a plumbing technique that has been available for quite a number of years but is still a largely unknown alternative to pipe replacement. As the name might suggest, it is a process where plumbers can reline the inside of a pipe instead of having to replace the whole thing.
The way this process is completed at Network Plumbing begins with a CCTV drain camera inspection of your pipes, so the plumber can see any problems in the drain. The pipe is then jetted with a high-pressure water jetter and cleaned with special tools.
A special Network Plumbing liner and bladder is then inserted into your pipes, the bladder is then inflated by the plumber so that the epoxy filled liner can mould itself to the internal structure of the existing pipe. Once it has cured, the newly relined pipe will be seamlessly sealed and extremely durable.
One of the most frequently asked questions we receive about pipe relining is that, “if it’s as good as you say, why aren’t more plumbers using it?” The answer to this comes down to cost and tradition. Many other plumbers are stuck in their ways and are comfortable with the old process of replacing pipes as they know exactly what needs to be done and how it will need to be done.
