Appliance Installation Sydney

Appliance Installtion Sydney

New oven. New cooktop. New dishwasher. Most people assume installation is simple. Most appliances in a Sydney kitchen require a licensed electrician, a licensed plumber, or both – and getting it wrong voids your warranty and your home insurance. Network has all three trades under one roof. One call. All handled.

Trust One Team To Handle It

Most electricians in Sydney only do electrical work. When you call them to install a dishwasher, they’ll tell you to organise a plumber separately. When you call a plumber about a gas cooktop, they’ll tell you to find your own electrician. You end up managing two or three different tradies, two sets of call-out fees, and two separate booking windows.

Network is built differently. Our licensed electricians, plumbers, and gas fitters work as one team across the same jobs. A kitchen appliance installation that crosses trades – a new oven, a dishwasher, a gas cooktop with electric ignition – gets done on one visit, with one invoice, under one roof.

How Appliance Installation Works With Network

Network’s licensed electricians, plumbers, and gas fitters carry out appliance installations across Sydney and Greater Sydney. Whether you’re in a Surry Hills terrace, a Hills District family home, we service your area. One call for a smooth installation for all your appliances.

Why Work With Our Electrical Experts?

Step 1 – Tell Us What You’ve Got Call or book online and let us know what appliance you’re installing, whether it’s replacing an existing one or going into a new location, and whether you’ve already purchased it. That tells us which trades are needed and how long to allow.

Step 2 – We Assess on Arrival Your Network technician checks the existing connection point, circuit capacity, and switchboard where relevant. If your switchboard doesn’t have capacity for the new appliance’s circuit requirements, we let you know and quote for the upgrade before any work begins.

Step 3 – Installation to Standard The appliance is connected, hardwired, or plumbed by the correct licensed tradespeople. All work is carried out to AS/NZS 3000:2018 for electrical and Australian Plumbing Code for plumbing.

Step 4 – Tested and Certified We test the installation before we leave. A Certificate of Electrical Compliance is issued for all hardwired electrical work – keep it with your property documents.

Do I Actually Need a Licensed Electrician?

In NSW, yes – for most hardwired appliances. Under the Home Building Act 1989, any electrical work beyond plugging in a portable appliance must be carried out by a licensed electrician. Unlicensed electrical work carries fines of up to $110,000 for individuals under NSW Fair Trading. More practically: it voids your insurance and your warranty.

These appliances require a licensed electrician for installation in NSW
  • Electric ovens and cooktops (hardwired to dedicated circuits)
  • Induction cooktops (high-draw dedicated circuit)
  • Rangehoods with hardwired connections
  • Dishwashers (electrical connection component)
  • Washing machines requiring dedicated circuits or new power points
  • Electric hot water systems
  • Built-in microwaves requiring hardwired connection
  • Ceiling fans

  • Air conditioning systems (split systems, ducted)

Gas appliances additionally require a licensed gas fitter for the gas connection – a licence separate from electrical.

Sydney APpliance installation FAQs

Do you have more burning questions about ceiling fans, switchboards or your lighting system? Here are some electrical solutions.

What are the risks if I don't use a licensed electrician?

Voided Warranties Manufacturer warranties on most hardwired appliances require installation by a licensed electrician or plumber. Unlicensed installation voids the warranty from day one – meaning any fault is your cost, not the manufacturer’s.

Insurance Risk Home insurance policies in Australia regularly exclude claims arising from unlicensed electrical or plumbing work. A licensed installation with a Certificate of Compliance is your protection. We issue one on every applicable job.

What appliances do you install?

We’ll Install Appliances You Bought Elsewhere New fridge from Harvey Norman. Oven from Winning Appliances. Cooktop ordered online. It doesn’t matter where you bought it – if it needs a licensed installation, we can do it.

Do I need a licensed electrician to install an oven in Sydney?

Yes. Electric ovens are hardwired directly to a dedicated circuit — they cannot be connected to a standard power point. Under NSW law, this work must be carried out by a licensed electrician. Installing an oven without a licensed electrician voids the manufacturer’s warranty and may void your home insurance. Network’s licensed electricians install all types of electric ovens and issue a Certificate of Electrical Compliance on completion.

Can I install a gas cooktop myself?

No. Gas appliance connection in NSW must be carried out by a licensed gas fitter. The electrical connection for the ignition system must also be done by a licensed electrician. Unlicensed gas work carries significant fines under NSW Fair Trading and poses a serious risk of gas leak, fire, or explosion. Network holds both licences and can handle the full installation on one visit.

How long does appliance installation take?

Most standard installations take one to two hours. Jobs that require running a new circuit, relocating a power point, or coordinating both electrical and plumbing work take longer. Your Network technician will give you a realistic timeframe on arrival.

Can you install an appliance I bought somewhere else?

Yes. It doesn’t matter where the appliance came from – Harvey Norman, Winning Appliances, an online retailer, or a trade supplier. If it requires a licensed installation, we can do it.

What is a Certificate of Electrical Compliance and do I need one?

A Certificate of Electrical Compliance (also called a CCEW – Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work) is a legal document issued by the licensed electrician after completing electrical work in NSW. It confirms the work meets Australian standards and was performed by a licensed contractor. You need it for insurance claims, council compliance certificates, and property sales disclosures. Network issues one on every applicable job as standard.

Do you install dishwashers?

Yes – and because a dishwasher requires both electrical connection and plumbing connection, this is one of the jobs where Network’s multi-trade setup is most useful. Our electricians handle the wiring and our plumbers handle the water inlet and drain on the same booking, rather than you organising two separate tradies.

What are the appliances Network installs across Sydney

Most hardwired appliances in a Sydney home require a licensed electrician to install legally. Many also require a licensed plumber or gas fitter. A handyman cannot do this work lawfully – and an installation completed by an unlicensed person voids the manufacturer’s warranty and your home insurance. Network’s licensed teams cover all of it, across every trade, on the same visit.

Oven Installation Electric ovens are hardwired directly to a dedicated circuit – they cannot simply be plugged in. We install freestanding, underbench, and built-in electric ovens to AS/NZS 3000:2018 and issue a Certificate of Electrical Compliance on completion.

Cooktop Installation Induction and electric cooktops require hardwired connections to a dedicated high-draw circuit. Gas cooktops require a licensed gas fitter for the gas connection plus an electrician for the electronic ignition. We have both.

Rangehood Installation Fixed rangehoods – canopy, undermount, slide-out, and ducted systems – require safe electrical connection and correct ducting for airflow. We install all rangehood types and ensure clearances meet Australian standards.

Dishwasher Installation Dishwashers need both an electrical connection and a plumbing connection. Our electricians handle the wiring and our plumbers handle the water inlet and drain – meaning one booking covers the whole job.

Washing Machine & Dryer Installation Most washing machines are plug-in, but heat pump dryers, condenser dryers, and some laundry setups require a dedicated circuit or a new power point. We assess and install correctly.

Hot Water System Installation Electric hot water systems are hardwired and require both a licensed electrician and a licensed plumber. Network’s teams work together on the same job – no coordinating two separate companies.

Gas Appliance Connection Gas cooktops, gas ovens, and gas hot water systems with electronic components need a licensed gas fitter for the gas work and an electrician for the electrical side. Network holds both licences.

Built-In Microwaves & Integrated Appliances Built-in microwaves and integrated kitchen appliances that require hardwired connections rather than a standard GPO need a licensed electrician for safe installation to standard.
